HEALTHY FOOD

Minerals and vitamins are good for our life.

We need vitamins because they are important for our eyes, skin and health.

Minerals are important for our teeth and bones.

Lemons, oranges and apples are rich in vitamins.

There are vitamins in fruit, vegetables, brown bread and in other food as well.

We can find minerals in milk, cheese, eggs and in vegetables.

Don’t skip your breakfast.

It is the most important meal.

Don’t eat crisps and peanuts between your meals.

You must drink at least five glasses of water every day.

Eat well – feel well!

SPORT IN OUR LIFE

Sport is very important in our life.

It is popular among young and old people.

Many people do exercises at home or in clubs, go jogging in the morning.

They also go in for skiing, skating, table tennis, swimming, volleyball, football, archery.

Other people like sports too, but they only watch sports games, listen to sports news.

They like reading interesting stories about sportsmen, but they don't go in for sports.

PE is an important subject at school.

Students of my school play football, volleyball and basketball at the lessons, take part in sport competitions.

I like my PE lessons.

Sport helps people to keep fit and to be healthy.

William Shakespear

1. William Shakespeare is one of the world's greatest writers.

2. He wrote plays for the theatre.

3. He wrote poetry too.

4. Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, in England.

5. Later he went to London, to be an actor.

6. But he became famous for writing plays.

7. Shakespear wrote his plays for the Globe Theater.

8. It is a wooden building where audience stand in the open air around the stage.

9. The original theatre burnt down.

10. The copy of The Globe Theatre opened in London in 1997.

Ascania Nova

The New Forest is the biggest forest in the south of England. It is famous bcause it has got deer and ponies. It is a very beautiful place. Many Londoners like to spend their free time in the New Forest.
There are many beautiful places in Ukraine too. One of them is Ascania Nova. Ascania Nova is the biggest national park in the south of Ukraine. It is famous because it has got zebras, ostriches, antelopes, llamas and ponies.
The park is covered with green grass, tulips and irises. Also you can see many beautiful bushes and trees.
Here there are herbs, flowers and mushrooms that are in the Red Data of Ukraine.

1. Let’s try to imagine the world without education, without any schools, colleges and universities.

2. What would that be like?

3. No school means no knowledge and skills.

4. No university means no doctors, no engineers and no scientists.

5. That is why it is important to study and get an education.

6. In Ukraine children go to school at the age of 6 or 7.

7.                When children are 9, they leave their primary school and go to secondary school.

8.                In Year 9 they take national exams in two subjects.

9.                Then they may leave school and study at technical schools.

10.           Or they may stay at school for two more years and study for national exams in Year 11, usually for entering university.

11.           However, modern world is full of new ways to get education.

12.           More and more schools and universities provide on-line courses and trainings.

13.           As for me, no matter what kind of education you support, it’s important to study and develop your skills

Places of Interest in Great Britain

1. Great Britain is rich in world-famous places.

2. They are famous university cities Oxford and Cambridge, Shakespeare's birthplace – Stratford-upon-Avon, towns of Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow.

3. Stratford-upon-Avon is a small town.

4. The Royal Shakespeare Theatre was opened in Stratford in 1932.

5. Only Shakespeare's plays are performed here.

6. Those who come to Oxford are interested in its university most of all.

7. It was founded in the 12th century.

8. Cardiff is the capital of Wales, chief port and a tourist centre.

9. Edinburgh is especially famous for its festivals.

10. There is a monument in Great Britain which is as intresting to the tourists as the Egyptian pyramids.

11. This is the stone circle of Stonehenge.

12. It is more than four thousand years old, and it is one of the wonders of the world.

13. There are other stone circles in Great Britain , and some are older and bigger, but Stonehenge

is the most famous .

14. I would like to visit Stonehenge one day!

Ukrainian And English Schools
Let me tell you about typical Ukrainian and British schools.
In Ukraine children go to primary school being 6 years old.
When they are 9, they leave the primary school and go to the secondary school. British pupils leave the primary school being 11 years old.
In Year 11 they take national exams in English schools. The national exams in Britain are called GCSEs. They take exams in at least six subjects although they might take more.
However, in Ukraine pupils take national exams being in Year 9. They take national exams in three subjects.
Then Ukrainian pupils as well as British pupils might stay at school for two more years and study for A level exams. However, they might leave school after national exams.

The Leeds Castle

There are hundreds of ancient castles in Great Britain, and they are popular tourist attractions. One of them is the Leeds Castle. The Leeds Castle in Kent, England, has been called the "loveliest castle in the world". This castle has been a royal residence and a royal palace. It's located on two islands in a beautiful lake.It’s about one thousand years old. There are lots of things to see inside the building and there’s a maze in the ground.

People often have a great time in a maze. There are also many hot-air balloons near the castle. It is very expensive to have a ride in a balloon, so people often just take pictures of them.

I like the Leeds Castle and I would like to visit it one day.

The West End

1. The West End is a part of London.

2. Life never stops in the streets and squares here.

3. The West End is a symbol of wealth and luxury

4. The best hotels, the most expensive restaurants, clubs, theatres, cinemas, casinos, shops and supermarkets are located here.

5. It is also full of museums and art galleries.

6. The West End is the place of Madame Tussaud's Museum and the Sherlock Holmes Museum

7. There are also many beautiful parks here.

8. You can also have a great time at the London Eye in the West End.

9. The West End is very popular with the Londoners and with tourists

10. Fantastic plays are performed at the famous theatres

11. Every new film is shown first at the West End cinema.

12. The stars are driven to the doors in huge cars and they are always dressed in fantastic clothes.

13. The stars are often filmed when they arrive.

14. The West End is a really great place to visit.

My favourite TV programme

I am a student, so I do not have much free time.
But when I have time I often watch TV. You may see and hear a lot of interesting information, while watching TV.

There are programmes about sport, music, wild world and so on. TV programmes give us many useful and interesting information. Ukrainian television offers a variety of channels. But my favourite TV channel is “MTV”. This channel always broadcasts music. But my favourite “MTV” programme is “Star dancefloor”. It is a weekly programme. It is a show, where four hip-hop dancers dance hip hop, and the best dancer wins. I feel interested from the very beginning. I think it’s really an interesting show for teenagers.
I am glad there are programmes which bring us a lot of fun and interesting information.

The Party

1.      I’m 14 years old and I study at the local school.

2.      I like all kinds of parties and celebrations.

3.      I’m always full of new ideas.

4.      I’m good at planning and organizing different events and I like being in the center of attention.

5.      One of the recent parties I have arranged was my cousin Peter’s birthday.

6.      His family has just moved to our town.

7.      He doesn’t have many friends yet, so I’ve decided to help him with party arrangement.

8.      He invited some of his classmates and my best friends.

9.      We decorated the living-room.

10. Peter’s mum prepared some delicious salads and ordered three pizzas.

11. At the nearest supermarket we bought several boxes of fruit juice and two large bottles of Cola

12. While Peter was helping his mum with cooking, I decorated the living-room with colorful balloons and wrapped his present.

13. When the guests arrived, we together sat at the table and had a quick bite of different goodies.

14. After that, one of my friends played the guitar and we sang a song to congratulate my cousin. Next, we played some games.

15. Then we turned on the music and danced.

16. I could see that Peter was having a great time and that made me happy.

MY LIFESTYLE

I can’t say that my life is very active or dangerous. However, I don’t think it is boring.

I am a student of 8^th Form at school, so I spend a lot of time learning.

In my spare time I like communicating with my friends and family.

I also like watching TV.

My hobby is taking photos.

I have a professional camera but I don’t have too much time for my hobby.

I like taking photos of my friends, family, landscapes and beautiful buildings .

I also like cooking different dishes but I absolutely love Japanese food.

Sushi is my favorite food.

One of the things I love the most is travelling.

I have been to Turkey and Egypt.

I usually travel with my friends or parents and prefer flying by plane.

I think my life is usually peaceful but interesting. However, sometimes it is stressful because of school tests.

Pets

There are a lot of people who like animals.

And many of them keep some animals at home. Such animals are called pets. They are cats, dogs, hamsters, white mice and so on. They know their masters and love them. And all the pets need their master’s care and love. Dogs can be good friends to lonely people, cats can cure some illnesses and bad mood.

I love cats very much. I have one at home. My cat’s name is Alice. She is four years old, but she is rather small. Alice has very beautiful eyes and when it is dark in the room they shine. She likes to play and to sleep, but most of all she likes to eat. Some cats walk outdoors. My cat hates it. She thinks that a domestic cat should stay at home. But in general it is a cat that walks by herself.

MY FAVOURITE TV PROGRAMME

I am a student, so I do not have much free time. But when I have enough time I often watch TV. You may see and hear a lot of interesting information, while watching TV. I like nature, sport and fashion, so I usually watch TV programmes, which are connected with my hobbies. But most of all I like nature. That is why my favourite TV programme is "In the World of Animals". It is a weekly programme.

It usually starts with amazing facts from the world of nature. So I feel interested from the very beginning. Most of all I like to learn something new about the sea inhabitants — different kinds of fish, whales, dolphins, etc. I have learned a lot about them from the programme "In the World of Animals".

I do not like game shows, where people play games or answer questions in order to win money or prizes. I am glad there are programmes which bring us a lot of fun and interesting information.

Why Do We Dance?

1. There are many interesting dancing styles and everybody can find something to his liking.

2. There are dancing styles that can be practiced alone (solo dance), as a couple (partner dance), or as a part of a much larger group (group dance).

3. Ballet is popular with many people and it is best known for its techniques.

4. It combines classical music, mime, acting, costumes and dance.

5. Nobody can remain indifferent watching ballet dancers' graceful movements.

6. The waltz first became fashionable in Vienna around the 1780s and spread to many other countries.

7. Now there are many types of waltz, including many folk and several ballroom dances.

8. Tango is often associated with love, passion and romance.

9. This dance form originated in Argentina and it became popular in Europe in the early years of the 20th century.

10. Today many young people, especially boys, are fond of break dancing.

11. It is a street dance style that is normally danced to funk or hip hop music.

12. While dancing people try to express their ideas or to tell a story through their movements and facial expressions.

13. Dance fills our body with energy and makes us feel happier.

14. Dancing is a wonderful way to exercise while having fun.

15. Besides, it has a lot of health benefits.

16. It increases your muscle tone, lowers blood pressure and relieves stress.

17. It helps us burn calories and lose weight.

18. But of course some people dance simply for the sake of dancing.

Travelling

Travelling is very popular nowadays. A lot of people travel to different countries if they have such opportunity. Travelling allows you to get interesting experience, learn about people’s life in other countries and continents. I think it is very interesting to discover new things, new places and different ways of life. While on travel, you meet new people, try different meals; see world famous places with your own eyes.
There are many ways of traveling — by train, by plane, by ship, on foot. If you want to visit a far country, you’ll definitely choose a flight. If your aim is to see many countries for a short time, you’ll choose travelling by bus or by car. If you want to be closer to nature, you may choose a trip on foot.
Lots of people nowadays live in big cities. So it’s natural that they want to have a holiday by the sea or in mountains with nothing to do but relaxing. There is other sort of travellers. They want to visit as many countries as possible. So after exploring Europe and North America they go to exotic countries.
People who travel a lot, are very interesting, they always have a good story to tell. Thanks to them you can learn many things which you didn’t know before. They motivate to see something new, to explore the world, which is so easy to do nowadays. Any kind of travelling helps you to understand many things that you would never see or learn at home.

Advertising is the engine of commerce. The advertisement is necessary nowadays in the conditions of free economic market and concurrence. There are a lot of companies and firms, which are not very different in their production or service. The production is the same, the concurrence is increasing, and that is why the advertisement is important for a company to stand out against other firms. Besides the advertisement is the means so inform people about new products oк services of a company.
There are different types of the advertisement. For example we can divide the advertisements by its purpose. There are commercial advertisement and social advertisement. By-turn the commercial advertisement may represent a new product of a firm in purpose to sell this product or the advertisement may represent the company itself to make its own style and to be recognized among the consumers.
Another division of the types of the advertisement is by its means. I mean, there are TV and radio advertisement, advertisement in newspapers, magazines and in internet and advertisement on posters in the street and in transport. All these types are successful, there are a lot of people, who watch TV, listen to the radio and read the advertisements in transport.
Further the advertisement itself is the business and this business is very profitable. A lot of radio-stations, tv-programs and especially internet-sites are living at the coast of the advertisement, which is given by different firms to bring the information to the people, who use this or that resource for work, entertaining or simply information.
To my mind the most influential advertisement is that on TV. Because only on TV the advertiser can use all the tools to make an attractive commercial. There are a lot of people, who watch TV and they inevitably watch the advertisement.
Further I think advertisement in the subway is successful. There are a lot of people who use underground railway and when they have nothing to read, they can turn their attention to the posters on walls of a coach.
I am not very influenced by the advertisement. I watch TV very seldom, I use other types of the advertisement only to get information which is interesting for me. And sometimes I read posters in subway only to have some little entertaining in a coach.
I think now there are not many people who are influenced by advertisement. There is too much advertisement around us nowadays, that people avoid to take it in.
